fingerprint recognition using nural network?

right now, I am doing my master thesis "fingerprint recognition with neural
network". I want to do it with neural network. But as I know, we use the neural network to classification. In our real life, the fingerprint application is work like that: first, stroe your fingerprint in the database, then use your fingerprint to match all the other fingerprints, if it is matched, that is your fingerprint; otherwise, it is the others. So How the nural network to classificate it, because all the fingerprint is not the same.

My BS project is "fingrprint minutiae extraction using Neural Networks." I don't know where and how to start. I would highly appricate any kind of guidance.

To learn about pattern classification i would suggest starting with

Re: fingerprint recognition using neural network?

My final year project also doing about fingerprint recognition by using neural network. My lecturer ask me to use Java to do it. I have been study about the back propagation
of neural network. I'm confusing how to start to do my final year project. Can anybody give a guide? Please tell me what is the first step, 2nd step and 3rd step have to do. What is the software or program i should use? Thanks
