What exactly is meant by weak inversion region in MOS ?
 

in fact ,the work region is diveded to weak inversion,moderate inversion,strong inversion and velocity saturated region.
you can try to read some books about transistor model
 
Infact, subthreshold currents flow in the weak inversion region ...
It is the region where the gate voltage is less than the threshold voltage...
Read the book on Muller and Kamins for more info
 
In weak inversion : gm/ID ratio is higher compared to strong inversion. (ie you get more bang for your buck).

There are less intrinsic capacitances (except for Cgb) .
(extrinsic capacitances are the same)

Very useful technique for low power circuits. (usually circuits are slow)
 
the paper attached will be useful for u to understand profoundly.
