hello all,

suppose that i have created a symbol for a circuit that includes 2 NMOS's.....let call them NMOS_1 and NMOS_2.

now, i wish to use multiple instances of this symbol to build up a bigger circuit.....but i wish to be able to have different values for W of NMOS_1 & 2 for each of the instances.

i am told that this is a task for CDF....but after going through the documentation...i feel completely lost...

how do i make the widths W for NMOS_1 and NMOS_2 become paramters.

many thanks

If i understand your question correctly, create a CDF parameter in the cell using the command pPar("name_of _parameter") (iPar also helps at the same level of hierarchy, search the cadence documentation for commands iPar and pPar and you will get the info you want)

Links on how to use pPar :

ipar ppar

thank you very much for your assistance,

i have tried to use the pPar() function to set the W and L of one device in the circuit.

however, i have encountered no problems with setting the value of L for instances of the created symbol, but the W parameter is not taking the value at all.

could the problem be happening because the transistors i am using have a parameter called total width and width strip....the width strip is equal to the total width divided by the number of gates of the device which is also a paramter.

many thanks

i think if u want to inherent parameter as the number of gates ,u should use iPar(), instead,
i am not sure
