What's your opinion on CAD tools for Windows/Linux OS?

I think the cost of Sun WS is too high.

have you ever run those cad tools below on Intel-based PC with Linux OS?
Synopsys synthesis, Designware, Hspice,...
Cadence NC-verilog
could tell me your experience on this ?

If memory is enough, not occupying swap area, the speed is good.

Red Hat Linux + AMD-64 is really fast.

synopsys has the linux version tools for design flow. i run them on pc with p4/512m.

Redhat Advanced Server 3.0 is found to be good for EDA tools

most eda ventor provide the eda tools for AMD64bit linux os .the benchmark is better on the AMD64bit platform than sun.
