MOSFET long channel length

hi

what is the further benefits or tradeoffs in extending the channel length of a MOSFET more towards higher lengths. (Tradeoffs are clear with short channel and long channel) If we further increase the channel length , what may be the possibilities.

With longer channel lengths you avoid the short channel effects (sic!) and achieve better matching (if necessary).

If you need to keep the same W/L ratio, the consumed area rises with the square of L . And area costs money.

Long channel provide higher output resistance for transistor,
Gate capacitance will be larger so lower speed (larger area) (same perspective can found that at the same voltage VGS you can achieve higher current for short channel mosets so better speed)
