REQ: mixed mode (DSP+RF) examples based on ADS

Could anyone give me a practical mixed design example (i mean a design includes RF and DSP) based on ADS?
Also i have another question about ADS. As i see it is not only a system level design tool, but also is a module or circuit level design tool. isn't it? Please explain more about how circuit level design can be done and how accurate it is. In other words, does it cover Matlab completely?

Actually ADS even it is a Layout tool also, but I do not get the part of covering Matlab.

Explain a little more what you did want to mention? Toolboxes (CDMA toolbox for example in Matlab)?

Yes, true ADS can actually do them in its own way of approach, but theoretically and mathematically approach leads to fairly correct results.

Matlab has features, functions never possibly will ever appear in ADS: like Image ToolBox etc. Matlab is a mathematical tool, a very powerful one, while ADS is System and Circuit approach tool with mathematics written inside ADS.

Do not think ADS covers Matlabs! or Matlab to cover ADS. They are both two different worlds of approaching the problem.

Thank you for you attention.

I really want to know what i can do by using ADS and what i can not. Suppose you want to design a wireless system. It maybe include some digital and analog+RF parts. I am going to design a behavioral level of digital and RF (transciver and ... parts) and also i hope to be able to implement the analog parts in circuit level in this environment. Is it possible by using ADS? In other words, are we able to design a system (digital+analog+RF) in ADS completely?

Why i can not think about covering Matlab? I mean that why we can not replace matlab by ADS. I am a digital designer, but my friends (as analog designers) told me "why we did not work with ADS instead of Matlab". They believe that we can replace Matlab by ADS. What is your idea?

Here is the problem, with ADS you can get what Matlab gives even better since it aproximates to real world the results. Just simulate and drop everything in tables and files. The problem is that flexibility Matlab can offer at certain level is far greater than ADS. To approach a certain problem you select the ways to do it. There are many ways. You select the method which is fairly convincing, best, appropriate and easier to do.

Remember people say: "engineers do not know how to divide instead they use decibel substraction". That does not make engineers lazy guys, but instead most practical guys in the world not to go in what analytical analysis benefits. ADS complements Matlab and Matlab complements ADS. You better get used to do them both. Are we clear at this point? I hope that helps.

I agree with you that ADS complements Matlab and vice versa. I undrestood what you mean. I think ADS was implemented as a system level, and after that some circuit utilities were added it. But Matlab is implemented as a circuit level modeling and therefore was not included system level benefits.
