Embedded Linux or RTOS

hello all ,

i am a s/w engineer having three and half year of experience .I am into driver develpment from past one year now i want to change my job and the domian . I am interested in telecom or SetUp BOx domain .My concern here is i dont have a hands on experience on any RTOS i know the fundamental concepts ,since i am very much desperate to change my Job i am in a cofusion on what to learn whether to learn Embedded Linux or any RTOS on a ARM developemnt board .Please give me ur valuable suggestions on the same, being so much experienced in one domain can i change the domain i am not interested in the current domain,how is the Job prospects for embedded Linux and RTOS .If at all if u guys suggest to go with RTOS how do i start which RTOS to start please share the materials the same for Embedded LInux also ??may be another 6 months i need to change the job .Please suggest some reasonable priced ARM boards . ...

Looking forward for ur valuable suggestions and necessary guidance.....
 

Hi,
RTOS and embedded Linux are two different things; RTOS are used in where timely completion of task is required. RTOS is used in application like missiles, engine control, SDR, aero plane etc.
If you want to change your job from embedded Linux and move to rtos, then i believe the domain telecom and setup box is wrong choice. Because both are dominated by simple embedded os.
You have to move to aerospace, medical, military or automotive domain to work on RTOS.
To learn about rtos, i believe you can use freeRTOS.org. And non-expensive ARM board is beagelboard.
