Hello I am searching for "short time over current test" equipment for Energy meter testing as per IEC62053-21.

Test specifies 4800Amps(20-160A METER) to be applied for 10milli sec/8.3milli sec duration(10m sec for 50Hz or 8.3 m sec for 60Hz).
If anyone has any information please let me know, which equipment I can use for performing this the test.

Best regards
Lib

I don't know the spec, but I guess the required current waveform is a sine halfwave? Sounds like a perfect job for a thyristor switch and power transformer with respective low output voltage/high current.

U will need a pulse tranformer with ferrrite core passing abput 10amps pulse with mosfet into the primary, and seccondary u will need a thick car(cable or 2 in parallel ) batt jumpers.
it will have to be windings ratio 400:1 .

Lubin,

Have a look
**broken link removed**
this is a test generator for the current pulses you mentioned.

IT can create 5500A 10 ms half cycle and 10000A for 1ms see example pulse.
