I have implemented an algorithm in matlab.. Is it possible to load the matlab coding directly to FPGA? Else writing the coding in VHDL is the only way for this?
Mathworks do provide an HDL coder tool for converting simulink designs plus embedded M to HDL. Its very expensive and does a pretty crap job.
I suggest converting it yourself (but make sure you understand what you're doing.) Most Matlab code cant be easily converted without major modifications to the origional algorithm.
Also Xilinx and Altera provide System Generator and DSP_Builder for Matlab based solutions. You can try your algorithms based on using these simulink interface. Part of your m file designs can also be instantiated as HDL.
