Bigboss, i have checked the linearity. The PA is working in the linear region. However, would like to know is there any special knowledge about PA design? Such as the grounding, is ground guard preferable for design?
what design would be better for PA. I tried to design in microstrip before and...
By my understanding, RF amplifier works better with clean signal (without harmonics or noise). The power amplifier gain will be degraded if the signal consist of harmonics or noise (correct me if i were wrong).
Recently I tested my newly design RF amplifier, I input the filtered (clean) signal...
Hi,
I understand that SSB mixer is capable to suppress or cancels the unwanted sideband without the need of the filter. Unfortunately, the carrier and the unwanted sideband of my designed mixer is still high (as shown below). The different between the real peak and the image peak is -28dB. Is...
Yes. It's high. That's why there are not much company who supply DRO for this range. Is there any company I can look around? I have contacted miteq but they havent reply yet.
Else I have to use a lower frequency DRO with some multiplier to achieve 32GHz. :(
Hi,
is there any more suggestion regarding the RF components company? I have search some of the basic list such as:
Miteq, Hittite, Meuro, Cernex.
But is there any other more suggestion?
This might sounds stupid but can you find any reading or prove regarding the noise figure?
I understand that for LNA, the lower the noise figure the better the quality of the LNA. However, how low can we consider the amplifier actually qualified as a LNA? Noise figure lower than 3 dB?
Can...
Roger that..!
Pasternack is one of the list for sure. I have seen some other brands before but i hardly recall the name. If you have any other calibration kit come across, please feel free to let me know. ;)
Hi,
I am trying to calibrate the VNA for my research use. Currently I need a calibration kit for around 20GHz. So sma coaxial cable is used for the testing. I have k-type cable which is sufficient for 40GHz. Higher frequency calibration kit may be considered too. So let me know if you have come...
Hi,
I am looking for calibration kits which cover frequency up to 20 GHz. I have checked at some well known company such as Agilent/ Keysight, Anritsu, R&S, Pasternack. Would like to know is there any other suggestion? I would like to review more before I decide the kits. Hope to have more...
Hi mtwieg,
Thanks a lot for the helps. I have understand. I have a gain around 2.49 dB.
Thanks everyone for the help..! I have learn a lot, gain a lot of knowledge now..! I will work hard on it.
Hi mtwieg,
thanks for the explanation!
I am using mini circuit T4-6T 1:4 balun for the IF.
https://www.minicircuits.com/pdfs/ADT4-6T.pdf
I have done a simple checking where I only input a 400mVpp (50ohms impedance) to both the secondary port. However, I only archive a ~800mVpp at the output...
Hi mtwieg,
The output Vpp is referring to an RFin with a power level of 0dBm. In the circuit notes, it is expecting a Vpp at IF output with ~1.1Vpp. However, I the best i could get is only ~850mVpp.

Besides, I found that the 1:1 balun has the better performs compare to 1:4...
Hi mwtieg,
I have something to ask about balun, from the datasheet,
https://www.analog.com/media/en/technical-documentation/data-sheets/ADL5380.pdf
at pg 25 regarding the baseband output, it's stated that
"Each baseband pair has a 50 Ω differential output impedance. The outputs can be...
