Does analog gain affect the SNR?

thanks for the answer, I am aware that amplifier and ADC add noise, but my question was does the amplifier increases SNR. I am asking because, i have recently found a statement (in a test) that analog gain increases SNR, and I am not quite sure this is absolutely correct.

Does analog gain affect the SNR?

Hi all, This is a very basic question. Suppose we have the following case: we have a photo detector (CMOS sensor or PIN photodiode) after which we have an analog amplifier, then ADC and then a signal processor which can apply digital gain. My question is if we don't have any a filter or any...

QPSK vs OFDM in fiber optics

QPSK is easier to implement in fiber optical communications, while OFDM increases the channel capacity(there are studies showing transmission of 100Gbps) and, as Mityan said, eliminates the inter-symbol interference => decreases BER, but is much more complex for realization. So if you are...

    transistor amplification

In common emitter circuits an increase in Base voltage causes a decrease in Vout and a decrease in Base voltage produces an increase in Vout. In other words the output signal is 180o out-of-phase with the input signal. The Voltage Gain of the common emitter amplifier is equal to the ratio of the...

    Replacement of FZT869

Hi everyone, I am assembling laser driver circuit using OPA350 operational amplifier, but it turns out it's very difficult to find a FZT869 transistor in my town. Can someone please suggest a replacement. It is an NPN transistor with the following characteristics: Rce = 36ohms @ 5A Continuous...
