I am currently working in the project which fetches OBD (On Board Diagnostic) information from the cars.
Well, I could read RPM, Speed and other data and ensured that the communication is happening in proper way
But the problem is, I couldn't find any PID for fetching the odometer...

From your answers I came to know that many cars doesn't support VIN number, ok thats really fine

If a car is supporting VIN number, then the PID must be 0902 only or whether it depends upon...

If that is the case , Is your Board Reading the time from the RTC well ?.
If it is reading and displaying the timings and not accepting the new time , the problem may be related with the Firmware most probably..

For 250 ma the heat will be very normal. If it seems abnormal , Check the IO pins that you have connected to the power drivers.
How you had interfaced the IO line with the power driver ?.

I think this may help if above constraints are there in your circuit .
Connect your codec with the inbuilt SPI of the microcontroller .
Then code the SPI protocol in the firmware and use IO pins as MISO , clk .., etc Pins ...
