[SOLVED] SOLDERING an UNDERPAD of AN IC on a DUROID PCB Using HOT AIR GUN??

I Am using a hot airgun to heat the IC pad (I apply heat under the IC Pad) which contains vias for underpad heatsink. I am applying heat at 160 Degrees Centi. The IC is being soldered. But PCB is little deformed. I am using duroid 6002 (20 mil thickness). Working at 3 GHz, what will be the...

Practical matching of complex input impedance of a dipole

Need Guidance OK i have a dipole whose Zi changes due to close proximity of parasitic elements. Complex input impedance is 150+160i . And its surely complex (not 200 ohm ) due to parasitic effects :) How can i achieve it practically. Can Quarter Wave transformer be used in this case. if it...

When bypass capacitors removed circuit still performing?

When bypass capacitors are removed and transmission line is open and RF is coming out with only 3 dB isolation. Following image shows what i am trying to say. Can somebody comment how it's possible. Is it because of coupling? f=3 Ghz Circuit is on a PCB substrate and pcb is lightly tightened on...

[SOLVED] PIN DIODE NEGATIVE RESISTANCE in SPDT Switch

Yes you are right but i am using a dielectric of Er=2.33 which gives 16.7mm. And i have placed diodes at 16.93 mm from the 2nd bypass capacitors on arm length = 35 mm (Shown in this image). Isn't lembda/4 should be from the point of placement of diode from the common junction. Thanks

[SOLVED] PIN DIODE NEGATIVE RESISTANCE in SPDT Switch

DVM! my mistake :( Above is a general design. I designed it wid some modifications (regarding parasitics )on ADS with some tuning and stubs. And i've used MACOM MW pin diodes which have very low C(Package)=0.16pF and Cparallel=0.61pF wid no series inductance. Problem is circuit shows 1 - 5 dB...

    PHD external coupling PCB wave

You are using method of moments to calculate fields on your PCB but you should also try to simulate it on softwares like FEKO,IE3D etc . You have to understand method of moments and EM fields behaviour in multiple mediums thoroughly to write a code for it in matlab.

    designing an ARTIFICIAL MAGNETIC CONDUCTOR

There is a provision in HFSS for magnetic materials/multiple dielectrics and you can simulate currents as well as fields. You can also specify custom aspects in a material. HFSS is a better option as it provides much better features in your case.

[SOLVED] PIN DIODE NEGATIVE RESISTANCE in SPDT Switch

Thanks all for your replies. I was using the DVM . I have another question about shunt diode switches. When switching on an arm in SPDT switch, I get right insertion loss(Pout at the output) but in Off state the isolation the same arm is around 1 dB (Pout nearly equal to Pin). i am using a...

[SOLVED] PIN DIODE NEGATIVE RESISTANCE in SPDT Switch

I need some help here. When measuring resistance on my pin diode in forward bias condition i am geting a reading of -9000 Mohms. It should be < 2 ohm.Circuit is of a spdt switch. Can somebody tell me why its behaving in such a way. NOTE:(I am not switching the bias current i-e keeping the...

    Need help for ADS layout

I am designing a SPDT switch. But i cannot simulate capacitors/inductors (With/without artwork) in layout momentum along with the design. How can i simulate RLC components in layout. Is it necessary to simulate momentum for my design. Kindly comment thankyou

Need help on spdt pin diode switch bandwidth problem

I have designed a SPDT switch on ADS. The problem is when taking practical results the bandwidth comes out to be only 100 MHz. But in simulation it is 500 MHz. I am using a shunt Switch configuration and using equivalent models for PIN DIDOES.Design file is attached. Kindly comment for...
