Re: XDS510 simulator.
The windows porting of this emulator, need to apply a patch to a xdsfast1.sys file. So tha actual Patch available from the author, cannot patch my current xdsfast1.sys. Probably the patcher is made for another version. also someone have another version of this sys file ...

Yes I do a mistake, I referred to my XDS510PP that have some line driver for protection purpose, bu it is not 74ACT8990, I opened now and inside there are 2 74ABT245 and one 74LVHT244.
Probably there are a new model of this emulator.

In the past there are many way to extract know-how from tampered device.
Today need an effort that only a million $ company can do.
In your example, smart card, today have a tamper evidece mechanism, and tamper proof shield.

This device is for protection purpose.
Each time you connect the emulator to a board, is better you safe too much the emulator because the board (tipically a prototype) can have trouble, and damage the emulator.
So in case of damage, is better you damage a line driver instead...
Is really interesting this post, I searched everywhere and found only this forum speaking about xds.
Also, if needs to program the flash only, there are a simple way to do it ?
Like byteblaster or other cheap hardware ? with proper software obiouvsly.
