Re: current measurement
If you use resistor on low side, be carefull how you connect it to the opamp on the PCB. Best way is to put two dedicated traces, side by side from resistor pads to opamp pads and use them for current measurement only. Also put opamp as close to the resistor as...
Re: Need help to make USB icd2clone work ( 4550 & 877A v
I've built two ICD2's, both work. Most common problem was faulty soldering - even when i tought i've done all the joints OK. So here's my advice - if windows recognizes the device but MPLAB won't connect, resolder every joint between the...

Ok, what to do to program 3v3 or lower devices.
- make a level translator from programmer voltage to device voltage. Bidirectional for PGD and PGC (reason for PGC - done some disassembling of 877A code and found BTFSC PORTC,3 lines - looks like in some cases ICD2 tests PGC line...
icd2_4550
Hehe, been working on 877 OS past lotta houirs and found something interesting - a bunch of RETLW's that return (in ASCII) 'All Your Base @re Belong To Us'. Wonder who was the joker at Microchip that wrote this?:D
About my schematic. It is based on PiCS' design, i just added the el - cheapo level translators so i can use it with 3v3 devices. The jumper on the Vpp line was there just for precaution - i didn't want to fry my only chip:). Anyway, ICD2 doesn't connect Vpp to target MCLR pin if you use 3v3...
abidr, compare 150$ for an original to 25$ you spend on components for home - made ICD2 (if you asmple the two PICs) - and in my case the clone works well - took me about a week, a couple of hours a day to make the schematic, the board, put it all together and make it work.
At the end it all...
20k and 2k2 must be the same - they are feedback resistora and if you change them, you allso change output voltage.
As for the inductor, the one connected between pins 7 and 1 must be a ferrite core or toroid - i use a toroid from an old ATX PSU with 38 turns of wire - it works fine.
And i have...

Hello!
My first post here:). Anyway, to fix 3v3 problem i used simple level translator made of two NPN transistors (i used some 2N3904) and four 10k resistors - schematic and description is here https://www.edn.com/archives/1996/110796/23DI_02.htm
It works, i used...
