SatCom Workbench
Does anybody have the SatCom Workbench program which was discussed in the June 2003 Antennas & Propagation Magazine page 122-127?
Details on this program can be found at:

If you have the software is it any...
hfss manual
Does anybody have any tutorials for HFSS or Designer? If not, maybe some experienced users would be willing to write a tutorial or more.
Both of these packages are very nice and easy to use, but as with most EM simulators they have a lot of features that are not fully explained...
The heavies users of HFSS I know still use UNIX as the solver. I am curious to see what Tech Support told you. With the current processors and OS I think it is clear that UNIX still wins. If you consinder cost of the system and time to understand all the specifics about UNIX you may decide...
I am not an expert on ferrites either, but I will say that a former coworker of mine did some simulations of ferrite circulator in CST v4 and the results were drasticly different than measured. CST support said they fixed some of these problems in the later releases, but I would be careful.
sonnet simulator
AWR knows there EM Sight planar simulator is not very good. It is a good move for them to allow other solvers. The truth is even Agilent ADS is making it possible to launch other solvers. There is a way to link to Sonnet with ADS as well.
I think this is going to be more...
Other software packages that should work are:
GRASP <-- I have seen this demo, but have not used the software

REFLECT <-- by ASL hxxp://www.demon.co.uk/asl/
calculation of area of the parabolic antenna
EIRP,
I used SABOR many times. While this is not the most accurate, it is a good tool and the horn pattern can be adjusted to try to make it look like the actual.
If you want to bring in actual co-pol and x-pol amplitude & phase patterns and...
I can verify what NeedBias is saying. I also found that this file could be extracted with winzip or winrar. After that installing works great. This is very interesting software! The downside is that there is definitely a learning curve.
The new designer looks pretty interesting. There is some nice synthesis tools and the planer EM simulator looks nice. I cannot wait to see HFSS v9! I wish they would release this soon!
The new Sonnet Simulator version 9.52 will be able to be launched directly from Microwave Office. This feature is very interesting and useful, especially for those people who use MWO often.
Also, there is suppost to be some new solving methods and they are claiming to be the most accurate...
