High the oscillation amplitude gives low phase noise and better frequency stability, because the active device negative resistance or conductance reduces with increase of the oscillation amplitude. but it need to increase parallel resistor in tank or increase the size of transistors or increase...
1.The quality factor of the ring osc is about 1 For LC osc, the Q is higher than 1. And from the classical Leeson's theory, higher Q means better phase noise performance.
2.Ring oscillator is a wideband oscillator while the LC tank is a narrow band one. So the noise couppled form enviornment to...
Please Read this paper form IEEE trans "Closed-Form Analytical Equations for Amplitude and Frequency of High-Frequency CMOS Ring Oscillators", Payam M. Farahabadi, Hossein Miar-Naimi..
this is a good equation and has well analysis.
Colpitts has much better phase noise but hartley has a better perfomance in tunning bandwith.if you dont have problem to space in your design so you can apply hartley to good tunning.
Hi to all
I want to calculated the isf.
do I must remove noise source in circuit and replace by impulse or I must apply impulse in circuit with noiseless noise source.
