Re: Linux on laptop
Thanks for all the replies.
Further more to my question above, can I install programs, like microsoft office onto Linux platform? Any restrictions in Linux, that I should be awared about before using it? I'm used to windows only before.. but used Linux a couple of times in...
Re: hi
Thanks, you guys have helped me.
Added after 1 minutes:
In the light of these:
CPU=Microprocessor=CISC
MPU=Microcontroller=RISC
Can you tell me any exceptions?

I want to build my own circuit, because buying and programing an existing chip with right connections already doesn't seem challenging.
However, I'll take some time to digest your comments and web-sites. In the mean while, I would like to say Thank you for your advice, it's...
ide hdd schematics
ya, a lot of it is out there in market, but I think the circuit isn't too hard too understand right? I wanna know how to start building a circuit like this one... or what do I need to know to achieve it...
even if it is too difficult for me, I wish someone can tell me why...
Re: hi
I have researched about the topic in books and on web. I believe I have learnt more, but l still need some help to clarify the concept:
CPU is a processor that execute instructions defined by a particular ISA.
FPGA is a programmable processor, that can implement any digital...
In CPU operation, after an instruction is fetched, when the opcode is alrithmetic, when it gets executed, various portions of the CPU are connected so they can perform the desired operation. For instance, an addition operation was requested, an arithmetic logic unit (ALU) will be connected to a...
I heard 555 is one of the easiest IC to understand. Any one can point me to the schematic of the 555? Basically, I wanna see how the 23 transistors, 2 diodes and 16 resistors connects to each other inside.
Thanks for anyone who helps,

Hi all,
I would like to build a circuit that interfaces between the IDE cable from HDD, and USB cable from PC, so that as a result, my PC would recognise the HDD when my circuit is turned on, and I will be able to read from and write on to my IDE HDD, using the drag and drop, standard file...
So gathering my thoughts together, is this correct in a typical PCB?
PCB
- Digital chips (use knowledge from digital design courses)
- Analog chips(use knowledge from analog design courses)
- inter-connecting resistors and capacitors (adjusting the voltage/current for the chips, also...
Thanks for your reply,
When I bought the machine, it doesn't come with the menu. I'd try to find the menu online for my motherboard. But you're suggesting that it's the max clk speed for the motherboard I should be awared of right? Anything else?
In the mean while, it's a PCI slot that my...
