For my project i was thinking of using a FPGA as a controller:
PC (video source with VGA converter)->data from the vga converter is passed into the fpga (in a buffer module which retrieves the RGB data )-> the data is passed to a RAM...

I am trying to build a full color & motion led display based on fpgas.
As a starting point I would see the following grouping of issues;
1.) Mechanical design and manufacture of the modular LED panels.
2.) Automatic LED adressing protocol.
3.) Digitising video into NxM color...
