I removed the burnt part, but the unit won't power up. I assume the next step is to look at the power supply. Interested in knowing if anyone would repair such a unit.

Update: Found it. A blown 3082 input selection transistor array on Ch1. It is the GND relay stuck on Ch1 stuck and drawing too much current from the 3082 that caused the 3082 to blow or the other way around - not sure. I have ordered the 3082 but would prefer someone with more experience...
Update: Ch1 and Ch2 work a bit differently. Ch1 and Ch2 vertical deflection, position, time and frequency measurements etc work fine, however, Ch2 shows only OVERV when trying to measure voltage (DC, Peak and with the cursors), where Ch1 is able to measure voltage multiplied by 375 or some...

Time and frequency measurements work very well using the cursors, however, volts measurements are far off, perhaps 150 times larger than they should be. For example, a 0.5V PP square wave...
Another update: It turns out that I have a 2246 Mod A which has the updated processor from the 2246A, but the rest of the hardware is very close to the 2246. I finally downloaded the correct manual ...
It points me to the Trigger B area where the vertical measurements are made for DC, -Peak...
You hit the nail on the head, except that it means some bad news for me I think. A bit more information - my serial number is B110324 and I have an 2246A (the front panel says 2246, however, the back plastic cover says 2246...A (the lettering is faded). So that explains why the processor board...
The voltage readout on my Tek 2246 is far off for cursor, Peak and Peak to Peak, ie, Type 1, type 2, type 3 and type 4 all show gross errors. For example, it reads 246 volts when it should be 7 volts. This is true with with cursor measurements as well. The actual scope display appears to be...
