PSPICE error: "Design not annotated"
When trying to simulate this circuit, I get this error. Apparently it's before the netlist is created, because when I try to view netlist it doesn't do anything. Anyone know why I'm getting this error?
Creating PSpice Netlist

OK, so we know that there is a limitation in the PSPICE Demo/Student versions as far as number of elements (transistors, etc.) you can have in your schematic.
However, seeing that hierarchical ports can connect to something in a different schematic folder or project, is it possible to use this...
Keith,
I understand what ur saying now. From where did u install PSPICE? I have Orcad Capture 9.1 from 2000, which I now see is probably outdated.
-I did select "Analog or mixed A/D" when I created the project - CHECK
-I have no "opamp" library in c:\Program...
Keith,
OK, I may have misread what u asked earlier. I have attached the actual .olb file that I get the LM311 from. And this model I got from this website, from the link "Download Digikey Libraries":
**broken link removed**
Could you take a look? Thanks.
don't make me out to be clueless
my questions aren't "How do I perform a simulation in PSPICE". They are part-specific, library-specific, niche questions. I don't need a tutorial. They dont answer the questions I'm asking.
Connecting thru a big resistor to ground makes sense. But still...
ok, i thought that the LM311 model out of DK_OPAMPS.OLB would need no editing. Meaning it's not like a breakout model where u have to specify all the parameters. I would think whatever parameters (and values) are already built-in, and no editing is needed. No?
But from what u tell me, I have...
I have a CNY17 optocoupler model from Orcad's DK_DISCRETE.OLB library
when I try to simulate a circuit containing this optocoupler, I get a netlist error. I'm pretty sure it's because I don't have pin 6 (the base connection) connected to anything.
What do I connect it to? and why is it there?
the model is shown in the image i attached in my original post. Is that what you mean?
in that model I have 8 pins, and pin 1 is the emitter-out pin that I think you speak of, and yes I have attached it to ground.

i double-checked, and yes I got it from the opamp.olb...
I am having trouble getting the expected voltage transfer characteristic in PSPICE. I am using the LM311 model out of the opamp.olb library that is on Orcad's site.
Basically I am fixing one input at 6V and sweeping the other input from 0 to 12V. I expect to see the output go from 0 to 12V or...
this is a general windows error which I've seen in other, non-PSPICE-related situations
almost seems like u have another previous pspice running in the background or something....before u simulate, try bringing up task manager, and make sure see if any processes need to be deleted
yea, it shows that it's from the source.olb library...but yet is not listed in there
it doesn't even show up when I click on the gnd icon, unless I copy and paste one into the schematic from another schematic (i.e., the installed example). Then when I click the gnd icon again, it shows up...
