Any difference between pre-emphasis and equalization?

One is on transmitter side, the other on receiver side. They have the same effect in improving eye openning for data transmission across lossy media. One advantage equalization over pre-emphasis is that it could be implemented in an adaptive manner so that the receiver can autmatically ajusting...

How to implement the Clock Recovery Circuit?

Re: Clock Recovery Circuit for 8B10B Code Any normal CDR ciruit should be able to do the job, the CDR only cares about transitions, it doesn't care whether it is 8B10B or not.

    Ads time domail reflectometry

Actually in ADS example directory, they do have an example on how to set up such a TDR simulation. It bascially is a transient simulation.

Can I use HFSS 9.1 for optics simulations?

There is no fundamental reason why it can not be done, but it will take extemely long time to do so, just imagine how huge the mesh will become considering the optical wavelength.

Where to study issues related to Ethernet Phy design?

ethernet phy designs The most challenging part is the CDR (clock data recovery) circuit, the logic design won't be that difficult.

How to create a FPGA Board?

Depending on your project and your company, sometimes @ltera or Xil@x gave out their reference board design to the customer.

what is hot-topic in digital design now?

Logic design for high speed serial link seems to be a very hot topic right now, just look at all those standards: XAUI, PCI-EXPRESS, SATA etc

what is the advantage of Fpga?

A micro-controller won't have enough processing power in most tele-com applications, especially the datapath. In those applications, one needs direct hardwired logic to process the packets. The only choices are FPGA or ASIC.

    NIOS and opencore ethmac?

opencores nios You need to design the bridge, or you can ask Altera for the reference design. They used opencore ethmac in their Nios training, so they already have designed that.

Re: SERIALISER/DESERIALISER What "high speed" you are referring to? Broadcom, Vitess, MindSpeed are all good supplier of SERDES up to 10 Gbps.

Does anyone use @ltera Nios dev. kit?

Take a look at the examples come with the kit, they have examples on how to drive LED, display and scroll on LCD screen, driving 7-segment display etc. You may also want to check out the application notes and tutorials published on @ltera's sites. Those are very helpful too.
