u can use MPLAB IDE as ur working environment
this IDE lets u write ur code in ASM, C etc.
u can also use MPLAB ICD 2 as a programmer if u want
u can get all these from microchip

yeah u can use internal timer module to implement delay loops
plus, if u wanna save some ports, u can use a latch such as 74hc374 to connect between all ur 7-segments and I/O pins

Hi guys,
I'm currently using a PIC18F4431(I've used a PIC16F877A before).
My design is very simple, a 20MHz crystal with 2 15pF caps and 8 LEDs at PortB.
Vdd, AVdd and MCLR pins are pulled to 5V and Vss, AVss pins are pulled to ground.
I've written the software using ASM and programmed it...
