High frequency 60kHz converter circuit (24VDC step up to 800VAC 500W)

Yes .1mm is the correct thickness. 1000mm length will not have much left over. You did not post a link to the bobbin if you found a new one.

You will have to cut out the center divider.

High frequency 60kHz converter circuit (24VDC step up to 800VAC 500W)

E80 core, after home made bobbin maybe 1.8 inch winding area left over. You need around 20 amps per primary so .004" minimum, .005" thick some extra. .004" = .1mm, popular size. You use the same number of turns i calculated for each primary and the secondary. The secondary is split. Half on...

High frequency 60kHz converter circuit (24VDC step up to 800VAC 500W)

Mylar = polyester, different trade names. 3mil polyester, came right up on Ebay. "Polyester (PET) Clear Film, 0.003" (3 Mil) x 40" x 10 feet, 1 Roll" 3mil clear polyester film narrower choice. I think UL requires 3 layers of 1 mil mylar/polyester. So for prototypes the 3mil polyester would...

High frequency 60kHz converter circuit (24VDC step up to 800VAC 500W)

Warpspeed, thanks for the edit, those were two things i wanted to know. Also do you worry about what thickness Mylar you are using? Or just use the thinnest that will meet UL-VDE.

High frequency 60kHz converter circuit (24VDC step up to 800VAC 500W)

Enzy, your circuit might work on 60 KHz but as the power and frequency go up there is less tolerance for any errors. Also it sounds like warpspeed has a better idea with foil winding and construction. - - - Updated - - - Warpspeed, between your explanation and your picture i learned a lot...

High frequency 60kHz converter circuit (24VDC step up to 800VAC 500W)

Do not understand question. - - - Updated - - - It sounds like you are saying the coupling between the two primary windings is more important than the secondary. I do not even see why the two primary windings have to couple. As it seems to me they are operating independently.

High frequency 60kHz converter circuit (24VDC step up to 800VAC 500W)

Well anything that works. Scroll down a little in this link and here is a simple method to make a bobbin, with good pictures. https://ludens.cl/Electron/trafos/trafos.html Else ware in this website he makes a bobbin by rolling up paper and using glue between the layers. - - - Updated - - -...

High frequency 60kHz converter circuit (24VDC step up to 800VAC 500W)

First i made a mistake above. The last sec pri sec pri should have been. sec pri pri sec With that said, if you use litz wire you can do a sec pri-pri sec and by dumb luck, there is a 20 amp litz wire on Ebay now. "Type 2 Litz wire, 660/38 AWG, 30 feet, Equivalent to AWG #10 wire" The...

High frequency 60kHz converter circuit (24VDC step up to 800VAC 500W)

Here is some design information for the transformer, no small task to actually make one. ee80 CORE Ae 3.925 cm^2 2.22 inches winding area - 3mm (margins) x 2 = .236" = 1.984" winding area. Design for 400 volts 24 vdc nominal input Design transformer for push pull operation. 2 primarys, each...

High frequency 60kHz converter circuit (24VDC step up to 800VAC 500W)

Usually people want 60khz on primary side and 50 or 60 hz output. But if you want 800 vac at 60 Khz that is easier. But even so this is a tricky project. You want to use batterys for 24vdc so regulation will be poor. Does it matter if the 800 or 400 vac varies. A E80 transformer core is...

Do you think I can make a smaller inductor than the commercial manufacturers?

The only thing that can saturate a transformer is voltage. As the primary voltage increases the flux increases. At some point the flux can no longer increase as the voltage increases and the primary stops acting like an inductor and starts acting like a wire and the current rises quickly...

    Push-Pull Converter MOSFET Issue

The sg2525 data sheet has little information on soft start. They show one circuit with a 5uF cap on soft start term 8 but give no guidelines on how to calculate time. I would say you should use the oscilloscope to measure this time. Also your shut down signal does not show were it connects...

Improve output peak current capability of a DC/DC converter [16-140Vin -> 12/24 Vout]

Re: Improve output peak current capability of a DC/DC converter [16-140Vin -> 12/24 V Klaus in post 2 had an interesting analysis. I think you could also add in the fact that during the 75 mS discharge the LTC7138 is trying to charge the capacitor back up.
