Sorry Keith but i must disagree.
An Electrolytic cap only has low esr when it has high frequency ripple...............if it's just discharging , (current in one direction only) then this is going to mean the Electrolytic capacitor has very high ESR.
-you will need to check the esr is not so...
Hello
I do SMPS to supply microprocessor.
It takes 2.6A, but we don't know if their are short periods where it may draw more current than this.
Is there a function on most scopes which would allow us to scope a current sense resistor and "remember" the maximum reading?
..ie leave the scope...
Hello,
I have schematic which is in Adobe .pdf format.
It is very big and its a nuisance having to keep "hand" shifting my way over the schematic.........is there a quick way to zoom toward and away from the cursor in .pdf files?
Hello,
We are driving LEDs for TV backlights.
We are doing Analog Dimming, and the LED current maximum is 500mA.
We can change the LED current at a speed of 25mA per millisecond.
Do you think this will be quick enough?
We cannot change the current any faster, as the offline LED driver...
Hello,
Over 80% of the worlds manufactured televisions , are made by Japanese companies.
-they only use PWM Control IC's made in Japan in the TV power supplies.
-so why do semiconductor companies that are not Japanese bother making PWM control IC's customised for use in TV power supplies...
Hello
I want to drive a 100V series strings of LEDs in a TV backlight.
max current is 500mA.
Is it ok to simply use an isolated converter to give the 100V rail, (obviously regulation would ultimately be done on led current)
....or does the secondary voltage need to be less than 60 VDC for...
hello,
the best simulator for you is the one that contains the .models for the pwm control ic's that you use.............if it doesnt have these , then it is not much use to you.
you cannot make your own pwm control ic .models, unless you are severely exellent
The thing is mtwieg, why bother adding anything at all......if the FET fails short, then so what.......the supply fuse will soon blow.
...as the original poster says, there is an enclosure for the product.....its not as if a huge , vast shower of sparks will fly all over the customers carpets...
Hello,
I notice that in the very thin , flat-panel TV’s that the back-light SMPS (even when only at 50 Watts) is being done with an LLC resonant converter, rather than a dual-phase flyback.
-The dual phase flyback would be just as efficient as the LLC resonant converter, and cost less...
The point is, if you have a load of current carrying coils wrapped round the same core....................then the core does not know which winding is afflicting a magnetic field into it, and it doesn't care.
If one winding is running current , and has a volts/turn to it.
...then that same...
Hello,
Some LLC resonant converters use an “integrated” transformer (transformer incorporating high leakage inductance), whereas others use a transformer and a separate resonant inductor.

Do you know what is the typical...
My fried, try LTSpice...they have push-pulls there.
It is also free.
It is the best-in-the-world of the FREE SMPS simulators.
Most free SMPS simulators, in fact most SMPS simulators full-stop, do not allow users to adequately simulate many PWM control IC's.
....you can program your own...
Hi,
Does making an LLC resonant converter with an “integrated” transformer (transformer incorporating high leakage inductance) give any performance benefits over using a separate resonant inductor and transformer?
sorry my friend i cannot find the AS3842 datasheet on google.
i can find references to it, but i cant find it.
There are many datasheet sites which appear to offet it, but send you on a merry-go-round "click-stream" that just goes round in circles and doesn't lead to the datasheet.
I know its...
