am gonna connect modem directly to the pic and i gonna use the USART library of C18
need to know if my connection is right and what code in C under mplab should i write to send a sms from pic 18f4550 to modem(for example motherboard of nokia 3310 modem)
i search in forum and i found that the connection with modem is in serial port
also i found that often the code is for pic 16F and the UART library
i really wanna know if i can use USART it's possible or no because pic 18F don't have UART but
they have USART and am programming in mplab with c18...

am working on project with i made communication between pic 18f4550 and my PC and it works, the code is written in C under MPLAB

yes i made the circuit myself and i have 470nf capacitor on pin18,vusb, to ground
am using just internal pull_up
i try to plug usb without connecting my lcd and it gives me usb not recognized

i have a strange problem with my pic
i did write a program with Mplab that can receive information from usb of my pc with vbnet application
when i simulated it on ISIS every thing works just fine but with real component and pic18f4550
it gives me USB not usb not recognized,when i press...
i coulden't open the file because am using proteus 7.6 but any way i trayed as you said 15mil
and it works but theres same pins are not connected like between resistor of the push button and VCC

i didn't connect the 15 and 16 pin to any thing and my LCD it works
and i asked an engineer in a electronic society and he tell me that in both case it works if i connect the D0,D1,D3,D4 to ground or no

on ISIS LCD has 14 pin but in real it has 16 pin so i wanna know the pin 15 and 16 to what i connect them and am using only the pin D4, D5, D6, D7 for data so the other pin D0, D1, D2, D3 i should let them NOT CONNECTED or i connect them to GROUND...
