The lump ports are too long, it's better to have a low aspect ratio, You could connect one edge of a port to the inductor's arm, the other edge to another long, thin PEC box, which is attached to the internal face of the guard ring.
you can always make connections using PEC objects or...
Yes, the thickness of M6 is set up already, and just let one edge of lumped ports (a piece of rectangle) attached to vertical face of the inductor input segments. It doesn't matter if you they join at the upper or lower part of the face.
I didn't get your second question.
Hi,
I am using HFSS doing some planar inductor in CMOS technology. Just wondering, are there any fitting tools that allows me to extract a lumped element model (e.g. classical PI or it's modifications, at least at one single frequency point) from the s-parameter results? Thanks very much.
Hi, rntsay,
Thanks! The coil is mainly in M6 and there are some small segments in M5 for under lying connections (sorry they are gray...) . Yes, you are right, the other gray track is the centre tap, which could be used as well if I apply another lumped port to it against the M1 guard ring. The...
Thanks very much for the detailed explanation.
According to your reply, I need to create a symbol for the inductor layout and simulate this in the schematic window, is that what you mean?
However, can I simulate this in the layout window? I mean, what is 'ground' in layout window?
The...

Hi,
I am doing inductor design in ADS and met a problem.
I intended to design an inductor with patterned ground shield on polysilicon layer.
However, I don't know how to connet this shield to ground? Generally two internal ports are connected to the two ends of spiral...
Hi,
When I am using Cadence Virtuoso and print the operating point of the MOS device, I notice that there are several different capacitors
For example, Cgg, Cgd, Cgs and Cgb.
What do these mean?
Why some of them are nagetive? And seems that
Cgg=Cgd+Cgs+Cgb no matter the polarity of the...
Re: Octagonal Inductor
Thank you very much.:)
For the first situation, could you tell me how can I generate a GDSII file? seems it is some kind of binary file.
For designkits. Currently I don't have any designkits. But you said that I can request some designkits from Agilent, is it free or...
Hello,
Anyone knows if there are several different inductance? such as Lmw, Lgmd, Lmon?
What does these mean.
I met these when I was using a free software called Indentro.
Thanks.
Hi,
I heard that when design an octagonal inductor in ADS, one can first generate the coordinates in matlab and save to a file, then ADS can read this file automatically in layout to drawn the inductor. Is that ture?
Thank so much.
