...ain't no issue about C10 really. You may use a lower voltage capacitor as you connect its negative pin to +V instead of gnd, but the MAX232 voltage doubler should work fine with C10 tied to ground
Using graphics editor in Quartus II:
1) How do I take a signal data[n] from a bus data[m..0], for example, in order to connect it to a single output pin ?
2) How do I specify signal pin-number ?
Thanks
By chance, does anyone know how to make an adapter to program EPM7128 using the Xeltec discontinued programmer "Superpro II" ?
The Altera device is included in the supported device listing, but it's a PLCC84 and the programmer has a ZIF40 socket.
Thanks
Yeah, but the same thing is valid at the MCU side...
Unless you were connecting ONLY two devices in a four-wire configuration, each MCU must control its RS485 driver, according to an algorithm, strategy or whatever for avoiding data collision.

Take a look at the FT8U245AM from FTDI.
It works a full speed (bulk mode) and has an 8-bit parallel interface.
FTDI provides a DLL to access the USB from the host side.
Re: Serial communication
Forget about using a software emulated USART unless your MCU has nothing to do else than checking a button and sending a couple of bytes...
Rather than adding an external USART, use a PIC18FXX20 (these family devices have two USARTs built-in)

I noticed that MAX232 charge-pump and its associated circuitry can't raise the voltage over 13V. Additionally this voltage is lowered by LM317 dropout and the pitiful regulation of the doubler when U5F output is in low state (sinking approx. 2.5mA from VPP)
I suggest using a...
