well.. she is turning 22 and i didnt had a chance to get her anything for past 10 year or so :-(. so i wanted this to be a special gift for her. Thought of buying some form local gift shops but i wanted it to be personal.
So I made her an electronic magic 8 ball.
so here goes.
first started with the programming. i had some atmega 8s and so i used arduino for compilation. (generated hex from arduino and then burned it using my universal programmer)

but it worked as a first prototype.

now the hardware :
these are some of the pics that i have managed to take...
but the message display is not as good as i thought it would be. so i re designed it using a hitachi 44780 lcd.
so i wrote the program in c uising the avr studio and avr gcc compiler. code:
