Which is better APD or PIN

My opinion:
1. PIN:
*Advantage:
-Low cost
-Fast response (low input capacity, low leakage current)
-Simple implementation (no need high bias voltage)
* Disvantage:
- Low quantum efficency 0.7-0.9 A/W
*Application: High speed, short range communication
2. APD:
*Advantage:
- High quantum efficency : 5-7 A/W
- TPG (Time Programmable Gain) facility
*Disvantage:
-High cost (APD and High Voltage Supply)
-High leakage current=> noise
*Application: Long range communication, Fiber cable test and measurement
Conclusion: make it yourself! :D
