Which DSP evaluation board is good?

I'm starting to use an eZdsp TMs320LF2407A system kit (for control) of TI. I not yet know very well how code composer (studio) works, but I have used Vissim... its cool! Take a look at ftp://ftp.vissim.com/pub/software/
I think in most complete "trial" versions (not necessariously setupVissimEcdPro50.exe) you'll find (after software installation) in "Viewlets" paste, some html tutorials (viewlets) that will give you a good idea of how is easy to use this board kit in conjunction with vissim.
If you search in this forum maybe you could find more about vissim :wink:

DSP comparison for motor control

You should see:
-How many ADCs it has and the speed and bits of them
-How many PWMs it has
-What kind of motor you want to control and the method you want to implement
-If the SDK that comes with the DSP covers your motor control technique
-Fault inputs
-How much information you can get from all of this
-Development tools

Motorola implements many of the available motor control techniques in the SDK.

Prefer Analog Devices

I would recommend Analog Devices DSPs and Kits. Have a look at www.analg.com/dsp

The very best you can use is Analog Devices' ADDS-21992-EzLITE. Really powerful!

The very best you can use is Analog Devices' ADDS-21992-EzLITE. Really powerful!

This incorporates Mixed signal DSP (ADSP-21992) which has on chip 8-channel 14-bit 20MHz ADC and in addition it has Controller Area Network (CAN) module very useful in automotive applications and three phase PWMs and many other embedded peripherals (Timers, SPI, SPORT).

I just chatted with a rep at avnet, and he said it was just the Visual DSP software? Can anyone confirm this?

The avnet promo is now a "lucky" draw for a free VisualDSP suite... Not the board itself... Also, if you are not living in the States, you are out of luck.

For cheap DSP board, it is the cheapest I found so far.... Kind of a clone of the Analog 2181 EVB... But with the more powerful 2185. It costs $140.
