It will be helpful if you have the knowledge of DC when your use PT.

Here PT means Primetime, a kind of STA tools.

I think it's makes more sense to start with DC (Desgin compiler) because it appears first in the design flow.

Yeah its better to learn synthesis concepts.. and also DC when ur doing timing analysis.. and there is not much difference between DC & PT.

Hi,

what do u mean by saying that PT and DC.is it means that PT---statictiming analysis learning and DC--- synthesis process learning.

in order to become a asic synthesis engineer u have to know the complete static timing analysis. bcz the STA enginee will be there in every synthesis compiler. so by knowing the STA will help in the achiving the typical synthesis goals.

so the STA and SYNTHESIS concepts learning must be done simultanously.

Thanks for the replies...........
I know Leanardo Spectrrum and Cadence RC.
I dont know any timing analysis tool.I know the basic concepts only.
I Wanna learn Prime time tool.
Do i need to learn Dc alos?
Please suggest material about PT.

hello ankit .. according me .. the best way to learn any synopsys tool is through the manual ... though too mnay pages ... if u r looking for strong base and u if ur planning to use for long term then .. my advice is please go through the manual...

suresh

definetly DC ..
u can even use DC in STA .. DC can be a gate to PT ..

Hi DC is as same as PT... so DC learning first is good...

Dinesh

If you want to learn STA only, dc is not required.
