metal density error

Hi friends
I faced one question in the interview

What is metal Density errroe ?Why we need to clear the metal density error ?

Thanks
Siva

metal density error

the metal density rule is applied to avoid manufacturing deterioration by dishing.
you must repair the error with insettting dummy metal before tap out

Re: metal density error

Hi Sivakumar,

As we have to follow the manufacturing rules, we have the min density and max

density. As tarkyss told we insert filler cells to meet the min density rules and so

metal slotting to satisfy the max density violations.

Re: metal density error

About the qustion, it will be helpful to read some topic about Chemical–mechanical planarization(polishing) (CMP).
CMP is manufacture process.

metal density error

Yes, the coverage of met is about 30%~50%.
