guard ring

hi all

What is the difference between single, double, triple guard ring.........

Plz help me

Re: guard ring

Hi,

In an Integrated Circuit all the devices are on the single substrate floor.

If there is a noisy transistor we put a guard ring, noise coupling through the substrate is reduced but its un-avoidable.

In some cases this noise has to be reduced to large extent so multiple guard rings are used(Double or even triple).

For more see this discussion:

Added after 9 minutes:

Two guard rings(Double Guard Ring) are put when there is Chance of LATCH-UP.

Guard ring is used to reduce noise and provide a low current path for latch-up purpose. For both of these, people used to put p and n type of guard ring there. I don't know whath is tripple guard ring

guard ring

lets consider P substrate:
a) single - just P+ - pretty much substrate contact
b) double P+ and N+ in parallel
c) tripple P+ N+ P+
