Hi All,

can some one tell what is Montecarlo analysis? why is Monte carlo simulation done.? any materials regarding the same would be very grateful.

Thanx in advance
Chethan

monte carlo analysis is done to check whether the IC works in all the corners of variation....

it is an analysis which you can analysis posibility of circuit, worst case analysis. when you analysis offset in comparater , it is often used

monte carlo analysis is used because the mismatch
that is done in ic fabrication it uses an statistical model from the technology file to simulate the mismatch and calculate the offset(in comparators)

I did a monte carlo analysis in school once. It involved getting the errror stat of each component on a board. ie: 100k resistor +-10% Then look at all components together. and for a given batch, say 100 boards, how many won't work, because the combination of parts at the edge of their spec.

In our case, it pointed out that changing 1 pot from single turn to multi-turn fixed the whole circuit. ((single turn pot adjusted a set point, production people had a low % of accuracy on setting it))
