What is CoDeSys software and what is it used for?

What is CoDeSys ?

Can anybody cast some light one CoDeSys
realtime control programming software (usage, portability, royalties,...)

Codesys is
a PLC programming workbench
a Soft PLC for Windoof
and they sell
PLC Kernel for various processors.

Codesys i a common programme name at Automation systems.Over 120 firm use same programme at their own plc,,motion,servo sytems...For example Schneider , Bosch Rexort , Festo ,ABB etc. etc. use same common programme and it name is Codesys but all firm use it with another name and with a special libraries .
