Darlingtons or fets

I have to drive some led`s from a pic chip.
Would members recomend Darlingtons or fet`s .
The current will be in the order of 2 AMPS through the devices

Re: Darlingtons or fets

Hi,

I would use a power mosfet, with low rds on resistance. The command of this kind of transistor is made through a voltage. See here for some details :

Re: Darlingtons or fets

noticed you didn't say the voltage requirements?
agree a power type fet is best , probably a logic type power fet
which requires less current thru the gate to achieve full rds on.
sometimes it matters more what is at hand when you are prototyping

Re: Darlingtons or fets

I recomend darlington. I dived so from logical IC a 1A motor.

Re: Darlingtons or fets

You will have smaller voltage drop on power mosfet, so you'll have smaller dissipation and power loss.
