accelero senser

what is accelero meter? How can i used it to detect movement.

accelero sensor

Accelerometer is a sensor that sense gravitational changes. As we all know, F=m.g where g is earth gravity 9.8m/s^2 or equally to 1G. So accelerometer detect velocity increment per second.

If you derive Newton's law, you can get many measurement just from 1 accelerometer...such as, acceleration, G-force, velocity (and speed), distance, breaking force (deceleration), work, momentum, impulse...etc etc etc...

So...want to build one?

Just a comment.

The device detects accelerations, not necessarily motion. Motion at a constant speed and direction has zero acceleration. Either speed and/or direction needs to change to cause a response.

My point is that an accelerometer will not detest motion, it detects changes in motion. (assuming the motion is straight line, constant speed...what is often referred to as an inertial frame)

rikie_rizza probably wants to say F=m*a where "a" is acceleration; "g" is a constant that will not change when acceleration changes. When "m" is constant, which is obvious case for our speeds, F will be proportional to acceleration and can be measured or sensed.

Accelerometer is device that measures acceleration and the sensor is device that sensing (detects) it. Such a sensors are used into air bags systems for cars. Sensor output signal is proportional to the vector of acceleration.

Best regards,

Well actually I wanted to show that in force (F) theres a g element that equals to 1G. Accelerometer is a G-force sensor (vector), so when you put an accelerometer align with earth's gravity, the sensor should read 1G.

Go to www.freescale.com and download DL200 device book. plenty of useful info there.
