What does the DSP job market look like?

I'm thinking about picking up DSP as a skill so that I could potentially make a move into that field. However, I have a friend who keeps on telling me that it isn't worth it as that job market isn't really strong right now.

What does the DSP job market look like, and how is it going to fare in the future?
