What does AMS " Analog mixed signal"means

is it means thar analog and digital signals are mixed together to produce a powerful system that has the features of both analog and digital design

what does ams means

See,
Siganls are of analog nature or digital nature......

In electonics engg, analog signals are limited to electrical quantities, rates of change and related power levels. See; analog signals are almost always needed to be processed.. consider your am/fm transmissions, medical instrumentation purposes, cellular fones etc. Now this conversion of analog signals to digital is done by a A/D converter... This term Analog & Mixed signal circuit is one in which analog and digital processing of signals is done as a part of a system. this system can be a pcb or an integrated circuit. You can call an Analog to Digital converter as a best example of a mixed signal circuit. same for DAC.

hope this helps
