crystal

Hi guys, i'm designing a cmos inverter oscillator/clock right now...when i choose for the crystal, should i choose only the "crystal oscillator" or any crystal would work?
Thanks

crystal

you should specify the crystal frequency (of course!) and, at least, the load capacitance and max esr.

crystal

The crystal that you use should have a frequency that can be handled by the CMOS inverter. Assuming that it can, you needto bias the inverter with a feedback resistor.Crystal is in parallel with the resistor and also have two capacitors are connected to the two ends of the crystal and ground.
What frequency are you trying and what CMOS gate?
