What best serial to usb chip?

I know only FT232R.

FT3120 IS ASO A GOOD CHOICE FOR serial to USB CONVERTER.

If space is not a constraint, then take a commercially available Serial to USB cable or dongle and rip out the PCB from it and use in your application. It is cheaper and ready to use.
 

I think FT232R is the best and easy solution
 

PL2303HX is a good choice,very simple and cheap solution.
 

I used CP210x before
 

I used only CP2102. Very good!!
 

FTDI - FT232R - USB to 1 port serial. Also includes integrated serial eprom, oscillator and USB resistors
 

depends what you are looking for, you should also compare pc drivers availability, libs and virtual com port drivers on PC OS (mostly windows). From my point of view the FTDI chips have very good support, they have d2xx drivers, virtual com ports, etc. Other os also available
 

FTDI : FT232R or FT232BM
