Tools for Analog IC Flow

Hi,

Can anyone please describe the tools used in the different phases of Analog IC design?

Thank you very much,
hunter

Re: Tools for Analog IC Flow

For your reference:

1. Draw the schematic: Cadance composer.
2. Simulator: Hspice, spector, Hsim, ADit, Ultrasim, ADMS (Mentor)
3. Layout: Cadance Virtuso
4. RC extraction: Dracula, diva
5. APR: Applo
6. Digital simulation: verilog

Also please tell me if the P&R, RC extraction, layout tools are the same for digital and Analog design?
They are different. Digital layouts can be designed with auto P&R tools, while analog layout design is usually full-customed.

Tools for Analog IC Flow

when you design a mixed-signal circuit ,what kinds of tools do you use? nanosim or verilog_xl + hspice?

Re: Tools for Analog IC Flow

Hi,

Thanks for your replies. How about Verilog-AMS and Dracula. How are these tools?

Thanks,
hunter

Tools for Analog IC Flow

Verilog-AMS is generally a simulation languagem not a specific tool. It is good for fast higher-than-transitor level of modelling, especially for mixed-signal circuits (e.g. PLL).

Dracula is pre-manafacturing physical verification and a parasitic extraction tool from Cadence. Search in this forum, there should be lots of posts about it.

friend:

May you want to use c@libre , because dracula dont used below 0.13 of fundry recommend. or user assure of cadence.

Re: Tools for Analog IC Flow

Mentor Graphyics is also great tool for analog/mixed-signal IC design.
