Recently brought some DS89C450's and i'm wondering if anyone can help me begin programming it? preferably USB-serial and in circuit if it's possible. I'm running windows on a modern computer (without parallel or serial port), although I have another linux machine with these ports I may be able to use. I know there's old threads everywhere, but nothing past 2010 and most of them apply to the 420.

Hoping someone has experience? Thanks!!!

And then how would I wire this into the chip? I'm totally without clue :(. I know micro's, just not this one and its got me stumped. I've just ordered some MAX232 from maxim which apparently I need. Do you have any idea where to buy the HC/AC 125 pictured?

I now have a USB serial converter. As per the diagram I attached in my response, do I still require the DS232A and HA/AC125 or can they be omitted when not using traditional serial?

It depends on your usb to serial converter, if what you have is a TTL one, then you do not have to use the DS232 or other RS232 converter.

The HC125 chip is for toggling the run and program mode, you can eliminate it by just grounding/connecting to Vcc the needed pins.
