I haven't downloaded it, but it this is the book "User Mode Linux", then he's referring to a book about a linux-specific "virtualization technology" that runs completely in user mode. I've actually used UML (and still use it). It's kind of neat in that it runs entirely in user mode and can be useful if you want to do things such as kernel development, etc. Here's a link to the Amazon review (h**p://www.amazon.com/Linux-Bruce-Perens-Open-Source/dp/0131865056) The author of the book is the main guy behind UML.
