what is meant by USB device,USB hub,USB host ,USB controller, USB OTG? what is the difference in all this? in which application this is required?how to identify my controller having this feature?

am really new to this ....pls reply....

Thanks

in microcontroller terms
1. USB host - the microconntroller can act as a host to a device such as a USB pen drive reading and writing files on the drive. The pen can then be moved to a PC USB port to look at the files.
2. USB device (slave) - the microcontroller can act as though it is a device to connect to a USB host. This is commonly used in data acquisition applications where a microcontroller is acquiring data over a period of time - it is then connected to a PC which can upload the data and download configration paramaters
3. USB OTG (on the go) means the microcontroller can detect what is connected too and act as a device (slave) or host accordingly.
for USB hub see
USB hub - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

thanks......understand that..........

USB host --------> Master ,read and write data........
USB device-------> slave, from this slave data is read only.......
USB OTG----------> USB host + USB device............

correct me if am wrong.............

ok except that data can be read and written from/to a slave by the master, e.g. a USB pen drive is slave which you plug into a PC which it is the master
