DDR3

I am doing thesis on any techniques to save power when using DDR3 memory. Any ideas?

Also, any tools that can simulate DDR3 memory? Or power calculation tools?

Hi

Memory is always required ,when a system is on and you are working with it.
But when ever you keep your system idle ,you no need to have contact with memory +controller

so in that time you can switch off the power consumed by the controller + mem

using isolation cells in your design ,

also you can use BICMOS/CMOS transistors during fabrication .

Thanks.

Hi,

here some ideas for power save options

-use DDR3L
-if possible avoid termination
-reduce clock frequency to minimum required frequency
-use DDR3 powerdown and selfrefresh states

regards
