Student Question

what is Dioud Position(On or Off)?
Vdd=10 volt
R1=5Ω
R2=15Ω
Dioud Position=???

Re: Student Question

It's ON(conducting).

I don't want to complicate things and makes you confuse more at this stage of learning.To tell you the truth for your future. When ever you see a diode, you must always seek to know what is the forward voltage of the diode and the type of diode, for silicon it's 0.7V and germanium it's 0.3V. In practical even silicon diode Vf is not 0.7V rather it's 1.0~1.1V. There are diode that have the same symbol as you have in the circuit, there VF voltages are as high as 6~7V. I don't know if there are other diode of higher VF.Like LED, there are some which has 6V of Vf.
