hello friends, i just wondering i am totally newbi in electronics so please go easy !!!

i am looking for 56Ω resistor from my pack, i go through all the code but its giving me 56k Ω, is it same?


or how can i measure it by multimetere? i set it to 200k
Ω and if i measre one it says 56.4 is that mean it is 56Ω?

No. The "k" stands for to"kilo" and means thousands. You've got a 56'000Ω resistor.

Then again you have the "k", so your mulitimeter says 56kΩ - wich means 56000Ω.

so i guess to find out 56 ohm i have to set the meter to 200 ohm and look for reading 56, am i right?

It's very likely that your resistors are colour-coded .. see attached picture ..

For example:
In 4-band code --
56Ω = > green-blue-black-[gold/silver it's just tolerance]
560Ω = > green-blue-brown-[gold/silver]
5.6kΩ = > green-blue-red-[gold/silver]
56kΩ = > green-blue-orange-[gold/silver]
