It is a home made SNAKE – popular game for TV.
The main element of the system is Atmega8. Image is generated by the transducer created of two resistors. The sound is produced by piezo electric transducer and the PWM output, so that the game has a nice squealing sound. A simple stabilization system on 78L05 was placed on the board. This allows to supply the game in the range of 5VDC-25VDC.
The board was designed in EXPRESSPCB, but it can be done in Eagle as well. The housing, for which the PCB was designed, is a popular and easily available Z-23. The sticker on the housing was made in PAINT, then covered with adhesive foil and glued to the housing with a double-side tape.
The game is controlled using five buttons, which are also used to move in a simple MENU. You can choose of three levels of difficulty, turning on and off the sound and the walls. The best results are stored in internal EEPROM.
